Research

A research study was undertaken to study the quality of Siam Snail’s snail serum
(produced from the slime of Siam snail breeds, mainly from the Hemiplecta Distincta breed)
compared to that of randomly selected products (made from the slime of foreign snail breeds)
sold in the Thai market.

The comparative qualitative research analyzed only the slime contained in the cosmetic products as other ingredients added to any of the products would invariably influence the aim of the analysis in attaining an accurate evaluation. The slimes studied in the comparative research are from Korea as they are essentially the ingredient used by most of the cosmetic producers in Thailand.

Net Quantity of Peptides in Snail Slime

Research clearly demonstrates that snail secretion filtrate of the snail slime extract produced by Siam Snail has a high abundance of peptides and proteins when compared with those of other snail slime cosmetics. Its net concentration of protein molecules measured at 50mg/L, while other products accounted for 1-2 mg/L.

Antimicrobial properties in concentrated snail slime extract

In addition to its relatively high abundance of peptides and proteins, the slime extract of Siam Snail also has higher antimicrobial activity against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria and fungi when compared with those of other snail slime cosmetics in the market.

Skin Regenerative Property

The research work of Brieva and the team published in Skin Pharmacology and Physiology journal reveals the ability of snail slime to help regenerate skin cells. The property of the skin to heal and regenerate itself is made possible by the rearrangement of collagen fibers in the skin layers. This is evident from comparison of fiber arrangements studied from two groups comprising the control group with skin type and condition similar to the other group applying snail slime to the skin.

Snail slime aids rearrangement of fibers in skin layer (Brieva et al, 2008)
for promoting a strong, tight, non-saggy and youthful looking skin.

Backed up by more than 30 years of intensive studies and research, selection of the breed of Siamese snails with a high yield of quality slime and utilization of efficient processing technology are instrumental in extracting pure concentrated serum for the production of highly effective skin care products. Snail slime of Siam Snail is proven to have active compounds approximately 30 times more than the slime of Korean snail breeds used in the majority of locally produced cosmetics. The percolating technology developed by Siam Snail allows for extraction of small molecules derived from the slime to ensure the most effective penetration into the skin layers (without clogging the pores or leaving greasy residue), in addition to maintaining purity of the 100% serum concentrate.
